What to order
Why go
Semilla cooks with more intent than anywhere else in town: ceviche built on Andean ingredients, a lomo saltado that respects the original without photocopying it, native grains treated as more than a garnish. The room is small — a handful of tables — and the pacing is courses, not platters. On a good night it is the best food per peso in San Pedro.
The honesty clause: Semilla does not run year-round. It opens by season and closes for stretches, and a wasted walk is a real possibility — so confirm with the tourist office on Caracoles or your hotel first, especially in shoulder months (our seasons guide explains the rhythm). If it is closed, Ckunna covers the refined-Andean brief at lower prices.
Good to know
Seasonality: closes for weeks at a time — verify it is open the same day.
Reservations: book; the room seats only a handful of tables.
Payment: cards fine when open; hours rotate and the kitchen closes early.
Peruvian standards with Andean ingredients — ask for the ceviche's heat level.
